Israeli soldier killed and two wounded in Gaza

On January 15, the IDF reported the loss of Reserve Petty Officer Nitzan Schessler, 21, from Hadera, a member of the 7155th Battalion, 55th Ha-Esh Brigade, who was killed in combat in the southern Gaza Strip.

During the same battle, another soldier from the 7155th battalion suffered serious injuries. Additionally, in a separate engagement in the south of the Gaza Strip, a soldier from the 603rd Engineer Battalion of the 7th Saar Mi-Golan Brigade was also seriously wounded.

The period from October 31 to January 16 witnessed the sacrifice of 189 IDF soldiers during the ground operation in Gaza. Since October 7, the toll has reached 523 IDF soldiers, encompassing casualties from the Black Saturday terrorist attacks and the subsequent War of Iron Swords.
