The chief of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate, Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, is set to announce that he is stepping down.
Haliva announced his intention to resign back in October 2023, taking responsibility for the intelligence failure that led to the October 7 attack, and has now followed through with his decision.
It is still being determined when Haliva will resign, as the IDF must find a replacement.
Brig. Gen. Amit Saar, the commander of the Analytical Department of the IDF Intelligence Directorate (AMAN), also announced his resignation earlier in April.
Saar had been leading the key unit of AMAN since 2020 and was considered an expert on the Gaza Strip. However, while he also took responsibility for the October 7 failure, his resignation was due to medical reasons, as he had been diagnosed with cancer.
