Israel has ordered the closure of Al Jazeera in the country. Satellite and cable television companies Hot and Yes have removed the channel from their broadcasting lineup in accordance with the government's decision to shut it down.

Several hours after the government approved the ban on broadcasting the Qatari channel, the police special forces conducted a search in the Israeli offices of Al Jazeera and seized the broadcasting equipment, located in the Ambassador Hotel in East Jerusalem.

The Association for Civil Rights has appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice to issue a temporary injunction against the closure of the channel until an appeal is heard.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a message on his Facebook page stating that Al Jazeera had ceased broadcasting in Israel.
