The London-based monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), has released additional details about the first Israeli Air Force strike in 2024 on targets in Syria.

According to the SOHR statement, the strikes targeted an artillery position of the 121st Brigade of the Syrian Army in the Kanaker area (approximately 20 km southwest of Damascus, about 25 km from the Israeli border), where Hezbollah's headquarters and forces are located. The attack was carried out from the Golan Heights.

Earlier, the Syrian Ministry of Defense reported another Israeli airstrike on targets in the suburbs of Damascus. The Syrian state-controlled news agency SANA reported that the strike originated from the Golan Heights.

Details about the extent of the damage are being clarified.

On the evening of January 1, SOHR reported that pro-Iranian militants had fired on Israeli territory. The shelling came from the Nawa area in the Daraa province. Two rockets launched from Syria fell in open areas, causing no damage.

IDF confirmed conducting a nighttime strike on Syrian army infrastructure in response to the shelling of Israeli territory.
