On Tuesday, February 27, municipal and local council elections are taking place across Israel. Polling sites open at 7 a.m. The elections are held in 197 municipal authorities and 44 regional councils.

The total number of eligible voters for election day will be 7,190,920. There are over 11,600 polling stations open nationwide. Most polling stations will close at 10 p.m. However, in small communities with up to 350 residents and at some special polling stations, voting will end at 8 p.m.

In 12 communities and local councils in the south and north of Israel, elections are not held because residents have been evacuated. Elections in these communities and local councils are scheduled for November 19, 2024.

By law, election day is considered a holiday. Those who work on this day are entitled to double pay or regular pay plus an additional day off based on the hours worked.
