Ronen Bar, the head of the General Security Service (Shin Bet), addressed the unrest in Jerusalem during protests against the government that occurred the previous day.
"Calls for violence on social media, along with the scenes witnessed in Jerusalem last night, exceed the bounds of legitimate protest," Bar stated.
"These actions complicate the task of maintaining public order and could result in clashes with security forces or even attacks on high-ranking officials. There's a clear distinction between lawful protest and illegal demonstrations accompanied by violence. We're witnessing a troubling trend of public discourse escalating to an unacceptable level."
