On Wednesday, the Department for Internal Police Investigations (DIPI) said it had ended its examination of alleged evidence tampering by police in the investigation of the killing of Yuval Doron Castleman in December, who shot terrorists carrying out an attack in Jerusalem but was himself shot and killed by an off-duty IDF soldier.

"After examining the evidence and the sequence of events, it was found that the conduct of the investigation team did not give rise to a suspicion that any of the police officials sought to interfere with the investigation procedures," DIPI stated.

Yuval Doron Castleman was fatally wounded on November 30, 2023, during a terrorist attack in Jerusalem. Surveillance camera footage showed Castleman jumping out of a car with a pistol and neutralizing one of the terrorists. At the same time, reservists eliminated the second terrorist and then mistakenly shot Castleman, mistaking him for a terrorist, despite him kneeling and raising his hands. Both reservists in the police stated that they mistook the man for a terrorist.

The casualties in this attack were: Liba Dickman (24), Hanna Ifergan (67), Elimelech Wasserman (74), and Yuval Doron Castleman (38).

Liba Dickman was a teacher, and she was pregnant with her first child. Hanna Ifergan was a school principal in Beit Shemesh. Elimelech Wasserman was a judge in the rabbinical court in Ashdod.
