The Magen David Adom reported that a young woman, 19, sustained a stab wound to the back in the central city of Ramle. She has been hospitalized at the nearby Shamir Medical Center in a serious but stable condition. The girl reportedly came to Ramle to visit relatives.
Friends and relatives of the victim chased the stabber for about a kilometer to a second location, where he attempted to stab another woman. He was shot dead by one of his chasers, who was carrying a licensed weapon. Large police forces have been dispatched to the scene.
Avi Bitton, the Israel Police central district chief, confirmed at the scene of the attack that the police are investigating it as a suspected terror attack.
The attacker, 21, came from a known family in the city and was reportedly "mentally unstable."
