On May 16, IDF confirmed the deaths of two Thai nationals who were believed to be in captivity in Gaza. They were killed during the October 7 massacre, and their bodies were taken to the Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces and the Foreign Ministry listed them as Sonthaya Oakkharasr and Sudthisak Rinthalak. Their families have been notified.

The victims had worked in agriculture in Kibbutz Be’eri, some four kilometers away from the Gaza border.

Eight Thai nationals, including the deceased, are believed to remain hostage in Gaza. 23 Thai nationals were released as part of a weeklong truce deal in late November.
