Mirjana Spoljaric-Egger, the Chairwoman of the International Committee of the Red Cross, held a meeting with Ismail Haniyeh, the Chairman of the Hamas Politburo, in Qatar. This information was reported by the Red Cross press service.

In a statement, the Red Cross said, "President Spoljaric's visit is part of our direct discussions with all parties to the conflict and other members of the international community in the region and beyond, to respect international humanitarian law and alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza and Israel."

The organization emphasizes that it is not part of the negotiation process but is ready to participate in implementing the humanitarian aspects of the agreements that will be reached.

This is the second meeting between Spoljaric and Haniyeh since the beginning of the war. The first took place at the end of November.

In Israel, the organization's activities have been heavily criticized because the Red Cross does not seek access to Israeli hostages being held.
