Adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Kamal Kharazi, stated that Iran may alter its nuclear doctrine if Israel threatens the nation's existence.
"We haven't committed to developing nuclear weapons, but if faced with an existential threat, we'll be left with no choice. If Israel strikes our nuclear facilities, our deterrence strategy will shift," he remarked.
Previously, General Ahmad Hajtalab, a senior representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps overseeing nuclear development issues, mentioned the potential revision of Iran's nuclear doctrine following the Israeli strike.
International experts assert that Iran is on the brink of nuclear weapon capability and could attain such status shortly if the decision is made. However, only Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, holds the authority to approve such actions.
Let us recall that in April 2024, Iran launched its first independent attack on Israel, deploying hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles, ballistic, and cruise missiles. The majority were intercepted. Israeli retaliation, as reported by Western media, was a demonstration strike with minimal intended casualties.
