US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Egypt to discuss mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
This visit marks Blinken's eighth trip to the region since the onset of the conflict. He will also visit Israel, Jordan, and Qatar.

Ahead of Blinken's visit, senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri called on the US to pressure Israel to halt military actions in Gaza.

The peace plan proposed by US President Joe Biden includes a permanent cessation of hostilities, which would allow Hamas to retain control in Gaza, contrary to Israel's stated war objectives.
