The State Comptroller of Israel Matanyahu Englman requested classified records of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee meetings, where the events of October 7 were discussed.

The committee's chair and Likud Knesset member Yuli Edelstein refused to hand over the records to the comptroller's office, saying that the state comptroller is not authorized to oversee the work of the Knesset.

Yedioth Ahronoth first reported the news. According to the article, which was confirmed by other sources, the state comptroller's office argued that the committee materials were needed not to oversee the committee's work but to study the topics discussed at the meetings.

Yuli Edelstein previously stated that he opposes any investigation into the events of October 7, except for establishing a state investigative commission.
