Spanish agency EFE reported on Tuesday, March 5, citing Palestinian and Egyptian sources, that Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on key points for a new ceasefire and a "prisoner exchange."

"The parties have reportedly agreed to a ceasefire lasting 40 days, during which 40 Israeli hostages, including women, children, and individuals over 60 years old, will be released in exchange for the liberation of 404 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails," states the EFE report.

The agency highlights that negotiations for the agreement are still ongoing in Cairo.

It's important to note that at the time of EFE's report, neither Israel, Hamas, nor the mediating countries had officially confirmed the agreement.
