The Office of the Prime Minister of Israel issued a statement on March 26 offering condolences to the families affected by the terrorist attack in the Moscow region on March 22.
The official statement reads: "We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic terrorist attack in Moscow. Terrorism, the deliberate targeting of civilians for political or religious motives, is a despicable crime. All civilized nations must consistently denounce terrorist acts, whether perpetrated by Hamas terrorists targeting Israeli civilians or ISIS terrorists attacking Russian citizens."
It's worth noting that Israeli Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Simone Halperin, personally conveyed condolences to the victims of the attack on Sunday, March 24.
On behalf of Israel, she laid flowers at the site of the impromptu memorial in Crocus City Hall. The Israeli embassy released a statement saying, "Israel vehemently condemns this horrific terrorist attack and extends heartfelt condolences to the people and government of the Russian Federation. Israel, Russia, and the global community must stand united against the threat of radical Islamic terrorism."
Ambassador Halperin remarked, "Today, as we mourn the victims of the Crocus attack, I light these candles amidst the red Anemones of Hope, in memory of the 1,200 victims of the heinous Hamas attack on October 7 and the more than a hundred lives lost at Crocus City Hall."
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz was the first Israeli official to comment on the Moscow region tragedy. A few hours after the attack, he posted on his blog: "Deeply saddened by today's tragic events in Moscow. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and all those affected. Moments like these remind us of life's fragility and the common humanity that binds us all."
