Soldiers from the reconnaissance battalion of the Nahal Brigade participated in an operation at the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, where they discovered weapons and ammunition in the maternity ward.

Prior to this operation, forces from the 401st brigade, Shayetet-13 naval special forces, and Duvdevan special forces had been operating in the Shifa area for several weeks.

Since March 17, hundreds of terrorists have been eliminated in the area. Over 500 Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists have been arrested, and various weapons and ammunition have been uncovered since the operation began.

According to the IDF press service, soldiers from the Nahal Brigade's reconnaissance battalion found hidden weapons in the maternity complex of Shifa Hospital, including mortar shells, explosive devices, sniper rifles, Kalashnikov assault rifles, pistols, fuses, cartridges, and other ammunition. These weapons were concealed in pillows, under mattresses, and within the ceilings and walls of the room.

During one of the searches, the soldiers encountered armed terrorists and Hamas leaders in the stairwell, resulting in a shootout and the elimination of the terrorists.

Before the operation commenced, women, newborns, and medical staff were evacuated from the maternity ward.
