Benjamin Netanyahu shared a photo of him wearing tefillin (phylacteries) on his X account. He wrote that the tefillin belonged to the late soldier Moshiko Davino, who lost his life during Operation Protective Edge.

Netanyahu stated that Ruhama, the soldier's mother, presented him with the tefillin, and he pledged to wear them in remembrance of all fallen soldiers.

The Prime Minister also cited a passage from the Torah: "Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you." (Deuteronomy 28:10).

According to Talmudic commentary, this verse refers to the head tefillin.

Journalist Amit Segal pointed out that this marks the first public photograph of Netanyahu wearing tefillin. Previously, representatives of the Chabad movement had urged the politician to wear tefillin, but he had declined, citing various reasons.
