On May 15, five IDF soldiers were killed in battle in northern Gaza—a casualty list that includes an officer and four soldiers from the Tzanhanim brigade.

The fallen soldiers have been identified as follows:

Captain Roy Beit Yaakov, 22, from Eli, serving as an officer in the 202nd battalion of the Tzanhanim brigade.

Senior Sergeant Gilad Arye Boim, 22, from Karnei Shomron, a fighter in the 202nd battalion of the Tzanhanim brigade.

Sergeant Daniel Chemu, 20, from Tiberias, a soldier in the 202nd battalion of the Tzanhanim brigade.

Sergeant Ilan Cohen, 20, from Karmiel, also a fighter in the 202nd battalion of the Tzanhanim brigade.

Staff Sergeant Betzlel David Shashuah, 21, from Tel Aviv, serving as a fighter in the 202nd battalion of the Tzanhanim brigade.

Additionally, three other soldiers from the same unit sustained serious injuries.

Israeli media sources have clarified that the deaths occurred due to "friendly fire"—a tank mistakenly fired at the building in Jabaliya where the soldiers were taking cover.

Since the commencement of the ground operation on October 27, 2023, a total of 278 military personnel have lost their lives in Gaza.

Furthermore, since October 7, including casualties from Hamas' terrorist attacks and the subsequent wars (in Gaza, near the border with Lebanon, in Judea and Samaria, and as a result of terrorist attacks within Israel), the toll stands at 626 IDF soldiers killed.
