A spokesperson for Qatar's Foreign Ministry issued a statement accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to prolong the military action in the Gaza Strip.

"The recent statements by the Israeli Prime Minister, particularly his demand for Qatar to pressure Hamas to release hostages, are merely another effort to extend the conflict for known reasons. Netanyahu is well aware that Qatar has been committed to these negotiations and efforts to secure the release of hostages from the outset... We urge Netanyahu to focus on negotiations that will enhance regional security rather than making statements solely for personal political gain," the spokesperson said.

This statement comes in response to Netanyahu's recent call for Qatar to exert additional pressure on Hamas, as stated yesterday.
