Thousands of pro-Palestinian activists gathered in Amsterdam to protest Israeli President Isaac Herzog's participation in the opening ceremony of the Holocaust Museum. The head of state was invited to the Netherlands by King Willem-Alexander.

Before Herzog's visit, a coalition of anti-Israel organizations, including some Jewish groups, demanded that the President face trial.

They allege that Herzog plays a pivotal role in "fostering an environment conducive to genocide in Gaza."

"The Israeli president is exploiting Holocaust history to justify both himself and the appalling genocide unfolding in Gaza," stated the Jewish organization Erev Rav.

The management of the new museum expressed regret that the opening ceremony coincides with hostilities in the Gaza Strip: "Nevertheless, we hope for dignified proceedings, honoring the significance of our museum on both the national and global stage."
