IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari commented on the video footage released yesterday of Hamas terrorists capturing female observers at the IDF base in Nahal Oz on October 7.
"Daniela, Karina, Liri, Agam, and Naama. The fact that we could not protect you is our failure. We are responsible for this, and we have a duty to bring you home. This film reminds us of the duty to bring you home along with the 123 abducted," said the Israeli army spokesman.
Hagari acknowledged that the footage raises difficult questions, the main one being: How was this possible? “The responsibility and obligation to answer these questions lie with the IDF – to answer first and foremost to the families, but also to the media,” he added.
He also expressed confidence that the events of October 7 should be investigated not only within the IDF but also by external commissions.
“At the end of October, we received a request regarding warnings before the massacre. Our duty to the public is to provide an answer to this question,” the rear admiral emphasized.
